Induction & Development

Induction
Graduates undertake a 3-4 week induction.

Week 1 consists of learning about the business, the scheme, meeting mentors, teams and attending personal track safety.
Week 2 is spent doing volunteer work on the Kent & East Sussex heritage railway and is geared at the graduates teambuilding.

Development
Training Courses:

The following courses are an essential part of the GDS to give graduates an understanding of the rail industry and to develop the skills required in becoming an assignment manager.

• Introduction to Rail Systems Course
• Presentation Skills Course
• Report Writing Skills Course
• Infrastructure and Signalling Course
• Core Management Skills Course
• Kent & East Sussex Railway Teambuilding Course
• Workshop Practical Skills Course - EA1
• Design and Make Project - EA2

The latter two courses are carried out at a dedicated college to give graduates valuable workshop practical skills, design skills, team skills and manufacturing experience.
